Learning Retro Futurist Illustration

I love the retro-futurist style of Ada Zielinska's illustration work. When I saw she had a course on Domestika, I needed to jump right in and up my Procreate skills with a new challenge.

Final outcomes

I began the project by scouring my Pinterest boards for inspiration. I have quite a few examples of 'retro-futurist' styles, but I want to bring in other inspiration from vintage logos and book covers.

In addition to Ada's guidance, I included some inspiration for colours. I gathered these up on Mac's 'Freeform' app.

I then sketched out lots of ideas for forms based on the resource.

Moodboard of inspiration

Two compositional concepts began to form from the initial ideas I sketched.

I took these into Procreate and followed Ada's excellent tuition. ↓
